2012 AWARDS | (Press Release) | Recent Accomplishments
Since 2007, G.A.P.S. has awarded 289 grants, totaling $225,257,
making a difference in the lives of more than 37,500 children and students in public schools in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington counties. |

Grants are awarded in amounts between $100 and $2,500 based on their impact on public school programs that directly affect:
- Special Needs and At-Risk Students
- Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education
- Outdoor School
- Professional/ Technical/Vocational offerings

| Here are just a few examples of how your support benefits kids: |

$1,000 to help facilitate the annual, free health & developmental screenings for children aged three to six in Tillamook County. Follow-up is provided by our staff to see that the children and families get the services they need. |

$959 for Forest Grove Unified Sports to purchase 36 basketball uniforms and 44 basketballs. The program serves over 60 youth; half the students are traditional Special Olympic athletes and half are their peers. |

 |
$400 to purchase guitars for the music program at Levi Anderson Learning Center at St. Mary’s Home for Boys in Beaverton.
(Levi Anderson is a residential treatment center serving adolescent boys, ages 12 through 18, with severe emotional and/or behavior impairments.) |

|
$1,000 for Sunset High School in Beaverton to field three teams in the Intel Robotics competition in March 2009. The Tech Wizards are the only all-Latino robotics team in Oregon. Their program is designed to give at-risk students hands-on experiences with engineering tasks to foster interest in pursuing higher education. |

|
$1,000 for the Social Competencies Classroom in the Astoria School District to help At-risk, special ed, middle school students build a solar greenhouse as part of a school-based, farm-to-table pilot project. |
| |
|
$558 for twelve, six-month swimming passes for students with severe handicaps enrolled in Aloha High School’s Independent Skills Center in Beaverton. |
